Farhad Foroutanian

Educated from the Academy of fine Arts of Tehran in 1978.

I worked since 1977 as cartoonist and Illustrator for Different publishers in Iran, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, etc. I also worked for several years as set designer for the television and theater productions.

Immigration to Netherlands in 1986 has been changed my life and my carrier.

I work as freelancer for Different publishers as well as Dutch as in different countries such as: Rotterdams Dagblad, Algemeen Dagblad, Vice versa, Vrij Nederland, ICT zorg, Binnenlandsebestuur, Contrast, De Helling, Zone 5300, Cartoon movement, Cagle (USA), Nebelspalter (Switzerland), La Voce (Italy), Toonpool and Don Quichotte (Germany), etc.

I have been participated  in more than 50 international cartoon exhibitions such as:

Yumiory shimbon- (Japan), World pres cartoons (Portugal), Satiricon (Poland), Huriat vaghfi and Nasredin Hodja (Turky), International cartoon biannual of Tehran, etc.

My works has been exposed in more than 40 solo and 45 group expositions in different countries such as:

BE-NE award for ‘The best political cartoon of 2004′- Belgium.
Price for the best Visual Artwork of Emilia-Romagna-Italy /1998.
Price for the Best design for EK 2000- Rotterdam.

I am member of different artists associations such as:
Pers & prent (Dutch editorial cartoonists foundation)
FECO (Federation of European Cartoonists),
AIDA (Association International Deffence of Artists) and VJ movement.

I am adviser of ‘ The Prince Claus Foundation of Netherlands, since 2007.
